Mr Solly Moeng

Solly Moeng is a widely experienced and recognised brand reputation strategist, media trainer, trusted adviser to leaders, columnist, current affairs commentator, and part-time lecturer. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Media Studies with the University of Cape Town.

The foundations of his career are rooted in the tourism sector, having started as marketing manager for SA Tourism in Canada, then Country Manager (SA Tourism) in the USA. Back in South Africa, he worked within SA Tourism’s Guest Program before being appointed Marketing & Communications Manager for the erstwhile National Botanical Institute (now SA National Biodiversity Institute), based at Kirstenbosch, Cape Town, then CapeNature (of which he led the rebranding process from Western Cape Nature Conservation Board).

As a consultant, Moeng has led projects to provide media support or develop marketing strategies for the Eastern Cape Tourism Board and worked in teams to do similar strategy work for Gauteng Tourism and the Limpopo Tourism Agency.

He is also a former Head of Corporate Communications & PR at Woolworths.

Moeng founded DonValley Reputation Managers (www.donvalley.co.za) in 2006 and, in 2017, the Africa Brand Summit – www.africabrandsummit.co - which serves as a platform to assess Africa as a destination brand to find ways in which it can be strengthened to maximise its appeal.

In 2025, Moeng facilitated multinational, multicultural, panel discussions at the G20 Interfaith Forum, one of the lead tributary events in the build-up to the South Africa-hosted G20 Summit in November 2025. He also addressed the Africa Branch of South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO)’s strategic planning session on the powers of and approaches to soft diplomacy.

As former Vice-President of the Davos, Switzerland, based World Communication Forum Association (WCFA) - WCFA / World Communication Forum Association Davos, Moeng has spoken at events in Moscow and Ekaterinburg (Russia), Lusaka (Zambia), Mumbai (India), Davos, Geneva, and Bulle (Switzerland), and Yerevan (Armenia).
